Omah Spangler Gosney Obituary

Omah Larue Bills Spangler Gosney, 95, of Oil City, PA., passed  away peacefully April 11, 2024 at UPMC-Northwest in Seneca, after sustaining a fall a few days before.

                Born May 19, 1928 in President, PA., she was the daughter of the late Earl & Luella Sparks Bills

She had many fond memories of growing up on the river in President Village.

Omah  went to Oil City High School until her family moved to Venus, PA.

She graduated from Shippenville High School and attended Welch’s Business College in Oil City.

She had worked at Sears, Venus Telephone as a switchboard operator and Allied Van Lines as well as the Oil City Hospital , and sold for Avon for  many years.

She married David (Skip) Spangler  and moved to Arkansas and worked for Tyson-Cobb on an egg farm and  as a receptionist for a chiropractor.

She volunteered at Silom Springs Hospital while living there.

Omah then married Macaulay Gosney and returned to the area in 2010 and resided in Cranberry until moving to an assisted living facility at Oil City Healthcare.

 Omah was always active walking daily right up until her death.

She was an active square dancer for many years and enjoyed   traveling and taking cruises, having many square dancing friends in the area.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Omah Aileen Spangler, her two husbands and step son Brian Gosney and sisters Mary Sliker, Shirley Salsgiver and Bertha McLaughlin.

She is survived by a daughter Peggy Barrett (Edward Jr.) of Oil City

Gerald Gosney (Carol) of Bristol, VA.

James Gosney of Burbank, CA.

Dr. David Weeter(Lynn) and

Andrew Graydon (Rianna) of Ft. Worth, TX.

Great Grandchildren

Ryan Weeter, Niki Weeter Bohon(Michael) , Haylee Guffey and Hans Hummer

Adam Luzhanskiy, Dane Gosney, Marshall and Thomas Walker

And her sisters Betty Perry of Seneca, PA. and Kay Mealy of Tionesta, PA.

Along with many nieces and nephews

Special thanks to her niece, Kim McLaughlin, for the special care given the last few years of her life.

Many thanks to the staff at O.C. Senior Living Center, who cared for Omah these past few years and the staff at UPMC-NW. The ER staff including Dr. Boggess who assisted Omah with her final wishes and Dr. McKimm and the nursing staff who cared for her in her final days. The list would be too long to name each and every caregiver who assisted with Omah but our family is very grateful.
