Daniel Roessner Obituary

Daniel J. Roessner, 69, of Oil City, PA. , and formerly of Erie passed away at 12:15 P.M. Tuesday Jan. 30, 2018.

Born Sept. 14, 1948 in Titusville, PA., he was the son of the late

James H. and Bette Keating Roessner.

Dan was a 1966 graduate of St. Joseph Academy. 

He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his Masters from Gannon University.

Dan was the director of the Oil City Housing Authority for twenty five years, leaving Oil City to become the Executive Director of the Erie Housing Authority, a position he held for 15 years before retiring last year.

Dan was a people person who genuinely cared for and made each and every person he came in contact with feel special.

He most enjoyed spending time at his camp when not busy with other obligations.

He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed hunting season and making the rounds of all the locals to swap stories and enjoy “camp food”.

He enjoyed mentoring kids and spent many years as a Baseball coach with Oil City Junior Baseball , as a Basketball coach at St. Stephen's School and working with underprivileged kids in the Erie area.

Dan also enjoyed teaching Hunter Safety Courses.

He was a member of Rotary and was Past President of the Northwest Turkey Federation as well as a charter member of the Allegheny Sultans Northwest PA.Turkey Federation.

Dan is survived by two sisters

Monica Roessner of Titusville

two nephews

Gregg Rauschenberg & his wife Dawn of Hudson, FL

Dane Rauschenberg of Austin, TX

as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

He is also survived by his dear friend Mary Ann Weidle of Oil City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Don.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Stephen's Church in Oil City.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's, National Wild Turkey Federation or to the Oil City or Titusville Library.
