David L. Winger , 77, of 3658 State Route 417 Dempseytown, died at 12:10 P.M. Tuesday Jan. 15, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Butler after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1942 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late William A. Winger & Helen E. Rosenberg Winger.
Dave was a 1959 graduate of Cranberry High School.
He entered the military on Feb. 9, 1960 and served four years in the United States Navy.
He was married on July 31, 1971 in the Fertigs United Methodist Church to the former Margaret J. “Peg” Rhoades and she survives.
Dave had worked for over 30 years at Pennsy Auto Parts , where he and his wife were owners for several years. He then worked for the Prudential Insurance company for over ten years.
Dave enjoyed golfing, and could always be found playing his guitar at a local nursing home where he volunteered his time.
Dave had been a member of several local bands including Windsors, Impacts, Dave Plus One and the Windy River Band.
He was of the Methodist Faith.

Dave and his wife Peg also raised three nephews who survive with their families.

Dave is also survived by a brother
Thomas Winger of Renton, WA.
and a sister
Marilyn Miller & her husband Andy of Rockland
He is also survived by special cousins Mike Dunkerley, Blaine & Donna Marshall and Chuck & Mary Shirey.
And his godson
Ryan Rhoades.
And a niece and her husband
Tammy & Bill Snyder of Rockland
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Carol Hall.
Friends will be received from 3-8 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home and again from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Saturday in the Oakland United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00A.M. at the Oakland United Methodist Church with Pastor Cindy Weber, Presiding.
Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Oakland Volunteer Fire Dept. or to the Oakland United Methodist Church.
