Esther E. (Lang) O'Brien

Esther E.  “Tip” O’Brien. 81, of  252 Park Ave., Oil City, PA., passed away Wednesday January 3, 2018 at Wesbury in Meadville after a brief illness.

She was born March 15, 1936 in Franklin, the daughter of the late Wallace J. and Esther A. Eckel Lang.

Esther graduated from Franklin High School in 1954.

She married Cornelius W. “Duck” O’Brien at St. Patrick’s Church in Franklin on May 25, 1957, and he preceded  her in death on Dec. 26, 2005

Esther was employed many years as a Customer Sales - Service Representative for National City Bank.

She enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren, and camping at Holiday Camp Lands. Esther was a member of St. Joseph Church and had also belonged to the  Catholic Daughters of Americas in Franklin.

            She is survived by 5 children; Karen Shaffer of Linesville, Kimberly and Randall Foust of Dublin, OH, Linda Lewis of Conehatta, MS.,  William and Denna O’Brien of Oil City, and Michal and Gayle O’Brien of Oil City.

            Also surviving are her grandchildren Michael & Julie Shaffer,  Andrew & Heather Shaffer,  Derek & Christina Foust, Jessica & Olin Rife,  Natalie Foust, Heidi & Will Kicos, Kelly & Jeremy Boyer,  Brittany & Adam Burgess,  Alyssa Krauss, Kaitlyn O’Brien,  Lacey, and Lyndsey O’Brien 

As well as numerous Great Grandchildren

She is also survived by a brother

Robert Lang of Dayton, OH

And a brother-in-law

Robert O’Brien of Cochranton

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a grandson Nathan Shaffer and by two sisters Mary Weaver, and Rita Weaver.

Friends will be received from 3-6 P.M. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday in St. Joseph Church with Fr. John Miller, Presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
