Frank Moran Obituary

Frank Joseph Moran, 95, of Chandler, AZ., formerly of Oil City died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 22, 2018

Frank was born November 4, 1923, in Oil City, to Jacob and Barbara Moran.

Frank attended Oil City high school, graduating in 1942. He, then, served honorably in the Army during World War II from 1943-1946 earning the rank of Corporal.  He was an MP guarding Japanese and German prisoners of war traveling on the train from California to various states.  He also served on the SS Mexico for several months.  Frank earned the WWII Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon during his service. In 2016, he was honored for his service through the Honor Flight program and was given an exclusive tour of Washington D.C. Frank was one of the remaining 3% of WWII veterans.

Upon his discharge in 1946 Frank worked as a machinist for Pearson in Oil City but the vast majority of his work was at Oil Well’s Division of USS Steel.  Frank also taught at Vo-Tech.

Deeply rooted in his Polish-Catholic faith, Frank was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers in our dioceses. His strong faith transcended into his love for family, which includes his seven children, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.

After losing his loving wife Mary in 2005, he surrounded himself with family, passing the time with challenging puzzles and intense card games. As a jack of all trades, he could do anything from building a roof to installing a kitchen sink. Some of his hobbies included testing his luck at the casino and indulging in intricate stain glass designs, which he proudly gifted to his relatives.

Survivors include his daughters Dianne Evripidou and her husband Telis, and Susan, all of Chandler, AZ.   His two sons Jon and his wife Kristen, of Atlanta, GA. And Daniel and his wife Nichelle, of Pittsburgh, PA.

Also surviving are his grandchildren Nikolas, Christopher and Michael Evripidou all of Chandler, AZ.  Jessica Moran Carroll and her husband David, of Franklin, PA. Sabrina and Charlotte Moran of Atlanta, GA, Alexis and Cole Moran of Pittsburgh, PA, Alex Moran of Austin Texas and Rebecca Moran of Chillicothe, IL. Frank was also blessed with great grandchildren Saxon and Bowie Carrol of Franklin, PA and Sean and Derek of Chillicothe, IL.

Frank was preceded in death by his beautiful and loving wife of 57 years Mary, his two sons Carl and Francis A. Moran and his daughter Mary Ann Moran.
