James Aikins Obituary

James “Jim” L. Aikins, 87, of Oil City passed away late Thursday February 21, 2018 at UPMC Hamot after a brief illness.

            He was born March 1, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA. and was the son of the late Thomas A. and Helen Riley Aikins.

Jim belonged to the Elks, Moose, Eagles, P.N.A., and Pulaski clubs in Oil City.  He enjoyed keeping busy and working with his hands. 

He worked 30 years for Wonderbread driving truck and also Owned/operated Heaths Market and the New York Market for 40 some years.

Jim is survived by his children; Nancy Malys of OH, Clarence VanWormer and wife Carolyn of Oil City, Laura Craig of Oil City, William VanWormer and wife Dottie of TX, ad Betty Smith of Oil City; 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren and his cat Jack.

He is also survived by his siblings Charles Aikins, Thelma (Pat) Hodges, Raymond Aikins, Gloria Prindle, and Janet Osborne.

Proceeding Jim in death is his first wife Shirley Aikins, his second wife Betty Aikins, an infant son, his brother Robert Aikins, and two sons in law Patrick Malys and Clifford Smith.

            The Reinsel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation or service.
