Jeannine Henderson Obituary

Jeannine Marie Metz Henderson, 90, of Cooperstown, PA, passed on April 16, 2019. Jeannine was born on February 9, 1929, in Oil City, PA, to the late Charles and Ruth Metz. She was married to her late husband Jim on September 7, 1948.

Jeannine was a member of the Cooperstown Fire Department Auxiliary for many years. She worked at Brody's, Evenflo and Henderson Electric.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Metz. She is survived by her three children: Dean and his wife, Paula, of Meadville, PA; Brierle Williams and her husband, Phillip, of Chapmanville, PA ; and Kim and his wife, Nancy, of Oil City, PA;  a brother Ed Metz and his wife Sue of Utica, PA; seven grandchildren: Matthew, Kyle, Abby, Michael, and Bill Henderson, Jami Jo Williams and Michelle Proper. To add to her delight, she also had four great-grandchildren: Kaden, Briella, Aidan Henderson, and Anna Blake.

Whether it was birthdays, graduations, weddings or other special events, Jeannine memorialized them with either a silver dollar or a dated shiny penny to every member of her family who cherish the tradition. Throughout most of her life, Jeannine lived and raised her family in Oil City, on Halyday Street, until retiring permanently to her summer home on Sugar Creek in Cooperstown, PA. Her home, “The Cottage”, has been the site of an annual Fourth of July party attended by family and friends who all lovingly considered her their grandma, also known as Gigi.

If asked to describe Jeannine, many words  quickly come to mind such as; wise, good listener, child/animal advocate, and a truly genuine person. To sit and listen and learn from her, whether it be advice or stories of her life, was a calming and peaceful experience. Jeannine made the simple life, her best life. In her own words, we all love you bunches, Gigi!!

The family would like to thank her neighbors, Ron and Roxanne Ziegler, and Melody Kachick and the Asera Care Staff, Tracy,Angie, and Julianna for all their loving care and friendship.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 12664 Rt. 19 South Suite 1A, P.O. Box 944, Waterford, PA 16441.
