John R. “Jack” Lewis, 78, formerly of Erie, died Oct. 2, 2017 at Oil City Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 5, 1939 in Erie, PA., he was the son of the late Wayne & Ila Small Lewis.
Jack was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph High School where he excelled in both football and basketball.
He was a member of the Pulaski Club, Polish National Alliance, the VFW and the Moose Club. In his younger days he played softball in the Oil City Mens Softball League.
He also enjoyed bowling and loved to golf, and enjoyed playing cards on Sunday Mornings.
Jack was a huge Pittsburgh Steeler Fan and also enjoyed watching the Pirates and the Penguins.
Mr. Lewis was a machinist by trade. He worked in many local machine shops, including Oil City Mould, Joy Mfg. Anderson's and Jarecki's.
He retired on May 24, 2004 from Erie Bronze and Aluminum in Erie, PA.
On June 3, 1959 he married Darla Rae Sloan, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1991.
He is survived by three children.

He is also survived by a very special friend Dottie Stiller of Oil City
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Bob Lewis and an infant brother.
Friends will be received from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Rev. John Miller, Pastor of St. Stephens Church, Presiding.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
