Minnie (Dutch) Knox Obituary

Minnie B. (Dutch) Knox, 83, of Oil City passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at U.P.M.C. Hamot Hospital in Erie.

She was born in Newark, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Dorothy Juanitia Conrad Lewis.

  Minnie always liked to be called Dutch instead of her given name.

Dutch attended  Oil City Schools.

She was married to Lon D. Knox, Jr. on September 12, 1952 in Oil City, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1991.

Dutch was a well known and loved server and cashier at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in Oil City for over 20 years.  Prior to that, she worked at Foster Forbes Glass Plant and Reno Card Factory.

She enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards (especially Hand and Foot), bowling, ceramics, and trips to Myrtle Beach, as often as possible.  Dutch really enjoyed the sun and sand.

Dutch is survived by three sons, Lon D. Knox III and wife Marsha (McGee) of Plumer, Stephen D. Knox and wife Shelby (Lewis) of Oil City (with whom she resided), and Michael D. Knox and wife Christine (Daugherty) of Oil City; seven grandchildren, Jason Knox , Missy (Knox) Shreve and Francesco Hinkel, Joshua Knox and wife Nicole, Valerie Knox and Sean Miller, Eli Knox and Marissa Dolecki, Adam Knox, Kaitlin Knox and Dane Thomas of Pittsburgh, fourteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece Diana (Dee) Oakes of Franklin.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Ivy (Iris) Waters, and Helen Martin, and three brothers, Melvin O. Lewis, Paul B. Lewis, and Bobby G. Lewis.

There will be a private service and Interment at Lamey Cemetery.

The Reinsel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
