Robert E. “Bake” Baker, 79, of Oil City, PA. ,died Monday Sept. 25, 2017 in Newberrytown at the home of his daughter.

Born November 15, 1937 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Herbert O. and Irene F. (Eiseman) Baker.

Mr. Baker attended St. Joseph High School and graduated in 1955. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy. He was then stationed in Bermuda for several years in the Navy SeaBees. In 1958, he transferred to the Navy Reserves and returned to the Oil City and married Judith Shaw in 1959.

In 1963, he was honorably discharged from the Navy.

“Bake” enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing in the Oil City area. Those of you who knew Bake know he would travel just about anywhere he could to find the biggest buck or the biggest fish to brag about, and that's just what he did. He traveled to Canada, Wyoming, Iowa, Colorado and many other places to hunt and fish. He was truly happiest when he was outdoors.

Robert retired as an auto body mechanic for Stephen's Auto Body in Seneca.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church.

Bake is survived by three daughters and their husbands.

Logan Kain, Isabelle Roes, Garrett and Megan Williamson

Robert Sowers, and Jessica Charles

3 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Beth Baker and by three sisters

Irene Scaglione, Mary Baker and Ann Clark

and by one brother

Ernest Baker

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 4 in St. Joseph Church

The Reinsel Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church 35 Pearl Ave. Oil City, PA. 16301
