Robert Holquist Obituary

Robert G. Holquist, 89, of 403 West Seventh St. Oil City, PA. , died at 2:15 P.M. Saturday March 24, 2018 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City after an extended illness.

Born July 24, 1928 in Oil City, PA. , he was the son of the late John & Hilda Marschinke Holquist.

Bob was a graduate of Oil City High School.

He entered the United States Army in 1950 and served during the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star. Bob served in the Second Mortar Battalion,

and was honorably discharged on Oct. 18, 1952

He held various jobs over the years, working at Pennzoil, Continental Can, Metlife, and Titusville Building & Loan, but worked many years at Northwest Savings Bank in Titusville.

He had been the manager of the Titusville Northwest Savings Bank and the Regional Vice President for the bank when he retired.

Mr. Holquist was quite active in the community and had been Titusville's Citizen of the Year, was a member of the Titusville Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the Red Cross, Rotary Club, and a member of the Titusville Shade Tree Commission and the Titusville Industrial Authority.

He also served on the Titusville Hospital Board, and was involved with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Holquist was a host to the Foreign Exchange Student program.

Mr. Holquist was a member of the Masonic Lodge #754 F & AM and the Lodge of Perfection.

He was of the Lutheran Faith.

Bob enjoyed hunting, traveling, motorcycling, taking trips to Benezett and had enjoyed winters with his wife in Myrtle Beach.

He was married by the late Rev. Donald Russell on Feb. 22, 1998 to the former Elaine Shreffler and she survives.

He is also survived by 8 children

He is also survived by three step children

Gregory Shreffler & his wife Roberta of Mt. Pleasant

Jeffrey D. Shreffler & his wife Ronda of Lake City

his step grandchildren

Garrett Greathouse, Cory, Brandon & Allie Shreffler

and Aubrey Shreffler

He is also survived by four brothers

Don Holquist & his wife Linda of NC

Gary Holquist of Oil City

Dick Holquist & his wife Martha of Poland, OH

Tom Holquist & his wife Bev of NC

and by one sister

Annie O'Neil & her husband Howard of Maple Shade

as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers

John Holquist and James Holquist and by two sisters

Dorothy Rowland and Carol Holquist.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Reinsel Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Dinger, Presiding.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S.Honor Guard.
