Albert George Martyna, 94, of Oil City, PA., passed away Sunday Dec. 1, 2024 at Oakwood Heights Village.
Born Sept. 17, 1930 in Oil City, he was the son of the late John and Pauline Kietres Martyna.
George attended Assumption School and was a graduate of Oil City High School.
He entered the United States Army and served as a Corporal with the Military Police during the Korean War. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
George then went to work at Oil City Glass Plant and remained there until he retired.
He was a lifetime member of the Assumption B.V.M. Church and was also a member of the Pulaski and PNA Clubs.
He enjoyed dancing , especially the polka, and enjoyed feeding the birds.
He is survived by nephews Robert Mizwa, Rick Mizwa and Paul Mizwa and David Tobin and Scott Tobin.
George was preceded in death by sisters
Helen Patz, Aniela “Nellie” Mizwa and her husband Paul, and Lottie Tobin and her husband Bob.
And by a brother Joseph Martyna.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date
Military Honors and Committal Prayers will be held on Wednesday Dec. 4 in the Reinsel Funeral Home at 1:30 P.M.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
