Anna Marie Emanuele Harry of 122 Aspen Drive, Franklin, passed away Wednesday, July 23, at the age of 97.
Anna Marie lived a long and full life. She cherished her childhood growing up around the Emanuele Produce and Grocery business, in a large extended family. She graduated from Oil City High School, then she achieved her RN license after study at Oil City School of Nursing, and later continued her nursing education at the New York Polytec Hospital, the University of Tulsa, and eventually a BS in Education from Clarion State. Through the years she worked as Charge Nurse- Medical Floor, and Charge Nurse-Pediatrics at Oil City Hospital. She went on to become an educator, teaching nursing in Tulsa, OK and later at the Venango County Vo-Tech where she taught the first classes of the LPN program, proud that all her students passed the state boards. She eventually became head of the Vo-Tech LPN program. Her later career continued in healthcare related positions with Venango County and with Grandview.
Anna Marie loved music, attended many live concerts and local performances, and played the piano. She enjoyed antiquing and finding "treasures". She loved the Steelers. She was known for her positive caring attitude, welcoming friends and family to numerous cook-outs at the cottage in Henry's Bend over the years. She worshipped at St. Stephens and loved Father Matt.
In her later years she often broke into song - "Que Sera, Sera" - or "You Have to Accentuate the Positive" - songs that expressed some of her life philosophy.
She had a large loving family that was truly the most important and cherished part of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Pauline (Manna) Emanuele, her sisters Josephine Powell and Katherine Appleton, and her brother Guy Emanuele. She is survived by her sister, Augusta Garrity. She was married to Lawrence Harry, deceased, and is survived by four children, Dan, Tom (Gloria), Polly (Dave Watkins) and Bonnie (Jeff Corbett.) She is also survived by 7 grandsons and 11 great grandchildren. Her children all feel blessed to have had such a loving mother.
The family would like to thank the numerous friends and family who helped with her care. Thank you to the staff of UPMC North and the Caring Place.
Calling hours are at Reinsel Funeral Home Friday 12:00 - 2:00 and 4:00-6:00, followed by a service. Burial will be Monday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
