Bette Martin Obituary

Bette J. Martin 97 formerly of Dempseytown and a resident of Oakwood Heights in Oil City passed away Tues. May 14 2024.
Bette was born in Warren PA to Harry and Kathryn (Wood )DeForce on July 16 , 1926. She was the last surviving member of her immediately family.
She graduated in 1943 from Colestock HS in Titusville at the age of 16.
She married Joseph W. Martin in Union City
He preceded her in death in 1990.
After her children were grown Bette worked summers at Two Mile Run managing the concession stand. She also loved doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy , Wheel of Fortune, the Steelers and the Pirates.
She is survived by her children Sandy Plowman of Oil City , Joe Martin and wife Susan of Burnsville NC, Yvonne Martin, Denny Martin and wife Patty of Florida , Shelley Flickner and significant other Tom Gates of Dempseytown, Tammy Gaisford and significant other Mike Arcentales of Texas and Lisa Haslett and husband Mike of Coraopolis .
Bette also raised two grandchildren as her own Carrie Zaccaria and Crystal Hancher.
Bette was an extremely proud grandmother & great grandmother to Rod & son Rodney (Heather) Plowman , Todd ( Heidi) children Halley & Marley Plowman, Greg ( Andrea) & Hannah Plowman, Mark Frederick & son Brent , Kyle ( Katie) sons Jameson & Sawyer Martin , Bethany Rockovich(fiancée Tim Eckert) daughter Oliviana , Nate ( Emmily) sons Logan & Eddie Speer, Dylan( Missy) twin daughters Stevie & Stella Gaisford and Chelsey ( Adam ) daughter Clementine Hurst, Lindsay Haslett –Miley( Patrick) daughter Siobhan , Sarah ( Jonathan) Erdman Emily (Evan) twins Senna & Aurora DeMaiolo & Carly Zaccaria significant other Wes Muys.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Elwood and Noyd DeForce, sisters Alice Spence, Joanne Battles and Una Mae Spence.
As per Bette’s wishes she was cremated & there will no service. The family will have a private celebration of her life at a later date.
Bette’s family would like to thank Fr. Miller and the wonderful nurses, aids, and all the staff of on the 3rd floor at Oakwood Heights for always taking amazing care of her
