Carl J. Sargent Jr.

Carl J. Sargent Jr., 89, of Oil City, PA., passed away Friday February 7, 2025 at UPMC-Northwest in Seneca.

Born Sept. 22, 1935 in Tippery, PA., Carl was the son of the late Carl J. Sargent  Sr. and Mary Coburn Sargent.

Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a seaman during the Korean war.

He was married to the former Joyce L. Murphy on Nov. 1, 1958 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2021.

Carl had worked as a mechanic for the City of Oil City for many years.

He enjoyed working in his yard, tinkering with mechanical things and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Carl had been a crossing guard for many years.

He is survived by two children

Carl E. Sargent and his wife Joanna of Seneca

And the following grandchildren

Bryan Sargent, Shawna Sargent, Adam Rupp & his wife Elizabeth, Heather Rupp and Anthony Sargent and his wife Rachel.

10 Great grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter Lori Rupp, and by brothers Matthew and Fred and by sisters Erma Murphy, Candy Delp, Esther Motter, Florence Phenicie and Geraldine Sargent.

Friends will be received from 3PM.-5P.M. Wednesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Carr, Presiding.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.
