Carol Ann Wice of Oil City passed away Monday afternoon July 7th, 2025 at Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born Carol Ann Diener to her parents Francis “Pete” Diener and Mary Ellen (O’Brien) Diener December 17th, 1940. She was the eldest of her parents’ four children.
Carol was raised and graduated from high school in Munhall, PA. After attending business school at Robert Morris College, she worked as secretary for U.S. Steel until marrying and relocating to Venango County. She went on to spend her career working for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation until her retirement. During her career and after retirement from PennDOT, she volunteered for multiple organizations, especially Meals on Wheels. She was always willing to help those around her however she could.
Carol was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, and “Gigi” to her great grandchildren. Nothing made her smile like spending time with her family.
Carol was full of life and always on the go. Bowling, dancing (she loved to dance, wherever and whenever she could), gardening, and entertaining loved ones were only a few activities she enjoyed. She was also a member of the Oil City YMCA, Moose Club, Oil City Cycle Club, and Polish National Alliance. Whether she was following her favorite bands to concert venues, spinning slots for jackpots, or blazing the back roads with her husband, James “Jim” Wice Sr., on their Harley, her bright laugh and sincere heart were always on her sleeve. She spent most of her free time visiting her life-long friends and family and seizing any chance she was offered to travel.
Carol will be greatly missed, but her unstoppable spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
Carol was married to James Wice Sr. on August 8, 1993 and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2015.
