Charles Augustus McDonough Jr., 75, of Oil City, PA., passed away Monday November 3, 2025, in Morgantown, WV. , after an extended illness.
Born November 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Douglas) McDonough.
Chuck was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and attended Grove City College, where he majored in accounting.
He was previously married to the former Elizabeth Wessell for 28 years. She preceded him in death in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vickie Wohlgemuth. They were married on July 7, 2007.
Chuck was employed by Polk Center for 34 years, working in various capacities. He retired in 2003 as a program specialist in the North Side Building. After retirement, he worked seasonally as a tax preparer for H&R Block in Franklin, PA.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City and the Izaak Walton Club.
Along with spending time with his family, golf and hunting were his priorities in retirement. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed traveling and visited many countries. His favorite was North Africa--specifically Morocco where he rode camels and camped in the Sahara Desert.
Chuck was a very loving paternal figure to his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He valued his family and enjoyed many holiday traditions with them.
In addition to his wife, Vickie, he is survived by his children: Timothy McDonough and his wife, Wendy, of Elrama, PA; Krista Hutchinson of Morgantown, WV; Stephanie Svolos of Pittsburgh, PA; James Svolos and his wife, Erin, of Seattle, WA; and Alexandria Svolos of Denver, CO.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alixandria Guzman, Barrett Holcomb, Chelsea McDonough, Lauren McDonough, Ricky McDonough, Taylor Hoffman, Logan Hutchinson and Maeve Svolos.
Other survivors include his sister, Catherine McDonough; a special niece, Lynette Virdier; along with several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dan McDonough in 2016, and a son, Rick McDonough, in 2023.
Family and friends will be received at the Reinsel Funeral Home on Chuck’s birthday Nov. 10 from 4P.M.-7:00P.M.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Josh Botts of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City Presiding.
He will be laid to rest in Cooperstown Cemetery.
