Edward Earl Jones Jr., 72, of Oil City, PA., passed away Sunday May 3, 2026 unexpectedly at his home.

            Born Jan. 19, 1954 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of Charlotte A. Arras Jones McCullough and the late Edward E. Jones Sr.

Ed was a 1973 graduate of Oil City High School.

He had worked several years at Purolator and later for Guardian Home protection.

Ed had won several awards while working at Purolator for his safe driving.

He was married on Aug. 8, 1998 to the former Rhea D. Martin and she survives.

Ed , affectionately known as “Skip” by his family and friends enjoyed all things that were electronics, he liked to take things apart and put them back together.

In his youth, he attended Good Hope Lutheran Church where he was active in Sunday School and Boy Scouts.

He had a soft spot in his heart for stray cats, and would feed any that came to him.

In addition to his wife, and mother of Oil City, he is survived by one brother

Margaret Beichner and her husband Dan of Oil City

Nancy Gill and her husband Frank of Oil City

Jane Clare and her husband Terry of Cape Coral, FL.

And numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

He is also survived by his father in law

Dana Martin of Spartansburg

2 sisters-in-law

Dorothy Irwin and her husband Matthew of Linesville

Sonya Lewis and her husband Kevin of Titusville

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a infant brother Robby, his mother-in-law

Maxine Martin and  a brother-in-law Ralph Martin

There will be no viewing or visitation.

 A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Reinsel Funeral Home, 116 Bissell Ave. Oil City, PA. to help the family defray funeral costs.
