Elizabeth Monahan, 96, of Oil City, PA., passed away
Sunday May 18, 2025 at UPMC - Northwest in Seneca surrounded by family.
Born June 7, 1928 in McKeesport, PA., she
was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Buleca Maha.
Elizabeth was a graduate of McKeesport High School.
She was married in St. Mary’s Church in McKeesport on June 25, 1960 to John Edward Monahan and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2024.
A homemaker, Elizabeth had worked during World War II making venetian blinds and later worked for Spiegel Brothers.
She had been a member of St. Stephens Church.
Elizabeth enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and baking.
She was a member of the YMCA and the YWCA and enjoyed going on trips with the Gallivanters.
She is survived by three children
John A. Monahan and his wife Dorothy of Oil City
Paul J. Monahan and his wife Donna of Trenton, Fl.
Edward M. Monahan and his wife Jill of Gibsonia
Three grandchildren
Jennifer, Sarah(David Ly) and Amanda
She is survived by a sister Olga Fry of Erie, PA.
And good friend Delores Baker of Oil City
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Michael Maha, and sisters Margaret Fencik and Helen Galka.
Friends will be received from 11:00A.M.- 1:00 P.M. Tuesday the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. Joseph Church at 1:30 P.M. with Fr. Richard Allen Presiding.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church Development Fund, YWCA, YMCA or to a charity of one’s choice
