Frederick Paul Horos, 76, of Oil City, passed away on Friday Feb. 16, 2018 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehab with his family by his side.
Born Nov. 17, 1941 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Anthony S. & Katherine Gierlach Horos.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Myrnarae Bechtel Horos, of 20 years in 2008.
Fred graduated from Oil City High School in 1959. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 until 1962. He was employed by Lennox Industries in Ft. Worth, TX. He also worked for J & L. Steel in both TX and PA. While residing in TX, he graduated from Texoma Regional Police Academy and was Salutatorian of his class. After serving the police force, he obtained a CDL and relocated once again to PA. He drove truck throughout the country for many years. He settled in Sharon, PA., for 35 years and was with McClean Trucking until 1981. His trucking career ended due to an occupational accident.
In 1999, Fred and Myrnarae reloctaed to Milton, FL, between 2002 and 2007, the couple traveled throughout the U.S. in an RV. They settled in Oil City making this their home.
Fred leaves behind a daughter, Sharon Horos Manski & her husband John of Scotts, MI;
a son, Christopher Horos& his wifeTammy of Rock Hill, SC. and a son John Horos and his companion Charlene and her son Aiden all of Vieques, Puerto Rico.
His first wife Kate Scandlon, resides in Scotts, MI
He is also survived by six grandchildren
John C, Joseph, Scott, Sarah and Brett Manski and Collin Horos
Fred is also survived by the following siblings:
Raymond Horos and his wife Carolyn of Metairie, LA
Michael Horos & his wife Jane of Oil City
Anthony Horos & his wife Dale of Gaithersburg, MD
and a sister
Sr. Mary Francine Horos of the Felician Sisters of Coraopolis
He also leaves many cousins.
His closest cousin and friend Diane Gierlach Jackson of Rocky Grove.

Fred was a member of St. Stephen's Church. He was formerly active member of the Assumption B.V.M. Church. He was past President of their church council, served Mass, was a Eucharistic Minister, and also was the organizer of the successful Pierogi Sale during Lent for three years.
He helped at St. Joseph Festivals, volunteered cutting grass at Calvary Cemetery, and enjoyed helping people with everyday needs.
His hobbies included collecting clocks and assembling jigsaw puzzles.
Friends may call from 2-4 and from 6-8P.M. Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday in Assumption B.V.M. Church with Fr. John Miller, Presiding.
