Fredrick R. Weaver

Fredrick R. Weaver, 76, well-known resident of Oil City, PA., passed away unexpectedly July 21, 2026 in his home, of natural causes.

            Born in Franklin, PA., on Oct. 11, 1949, he was the son of the late Harold and Martha Minnick Weaver.

A graduate of Cranberry High School, Fred graduated from Geneva College with a degree in Human Resources at age 52. He was also a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.

He had served on the Oil City Police Force and for a short time was Police Chief.

Fred was proud to be a veteran, he had served in the United States Army as a Supply Sgt. from 1969-1976, was in the Army National Guard from 1990-1999 and the United States Air Force from 1999-2009.

He proudly served as Venango County Veterans Affairs director for several years.

Fred never stood still, he worked as a lieutenant at Albion Prison, was a frequent visitor to McNerney’s and could be seen on Fridays with the Veterans on the Petroleum Street Bridge.

He had worked driving truck for dasher Trucking and delivered for Hovis Auto and had worked at Luther Place.

He was currently on the Oil City School Board, a member of the Seneca Volunteer Fire Dept., Sugarcreek Police and a member of the Community Services Board of Directors.

Fred was also active with the Fraternal Order of Police and the American Legion.

He ate breakfast with his son Ryan every Sunday for 45 years and with his grandson after he was born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Eric .

Friends will be received from 11A.M.-1P.M.  and 6P.M.-8P.M. Monday July 27 in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Botts, Presiding.

Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
