Gary H. Kearney, 76, of Oil City, PA. ,died at 2:00 P.M. Thursday June 7, 2018 after a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 23, 1942 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Ray & Ruth Gregg Kearney.
Gary graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1960.
He entered the United States Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 17, 1965.
Gary graduated from the U.S. Army school of finance and accounting in 1964 and attended Clarion University in 1973, 74 and 75 on the G.I. Bill.
He was married to the love of his life Patricia J. “Patty” Fink on June 8, 1975 and she survives. They celebrated 43 years of marriage together.
Gary worked for Pennzoil as a production supervisor, during retirement he worked part time for Baker's Transportation and at Walmart as a greeter.
In his youth he was a standout in baseball and basketball, thus the nickname many people still called him by (“Hooper”)
In the late 1970's and early 1980's he arm-wrestled in the Tri-State area, winning several trophies and tournaments, including the prestigious Iron City Tournament in Blanox, PA.
Gary was a past member of the Tri-City Management Club, the Oil City Jaycees, the Oil City Eagles, VFW, PNA, and Pulaski Clubs.
Gary truly loved his family and was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and Notre Dame sports. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Shamrock on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

He is also survived by three sons and their families from a previous marriage

Gary Kearney Jr. & his wife Debbie of Saegertown
Jeff Kearney & his wife Julie of Cochranton
a brother Terry Kearney of Allentown, PA.
and several brother and sister in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
10 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 4 Step Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly Kearney and two sisters Judy Henderson and Loree Kearney.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday in the Funeral Home with Fr. John Miller, Presiding.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
