Gertrude L. “Gert” James, 94 , formerly of 109 Ridge Ave. of Oil City , PA., left this world Sept. 25, 2024 at Oil City Healthcare after an extended illness.
Born June 30, 1930 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late loving parents Charles H. Staab Sr. and Gertrude Gent Staab.
She resided on Bissell Ave. in Oil City for many years.
A homemaker, her first loves were her family and friends.
She enjoyed the music of the 40’s, walking with Suzann, digging in her garden and visiting with the neighbors.
She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1948.
She was employed for a short time at Armstrong Collier and the Pennsylvania Telephone Co., leaving there to marry the love of her life John W. James, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2011.
She raised her family of 5 sons and 2 daughters and also babysat for numerous children.

John James and his wife Betty of Franklin
Larry James and his wife Cathy of Oil City
Kenneth James and his wife Mary Anne of Atlanta, GA.
Ella Mae and her husband Lucian Potter of IN.
Jim James and his wife Julie of Pittsburgh
1 granddaughter and 9 grandsons also survive
She is also survived by 4 great granddaughters and 5 great grandsons
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Diana and son Thomas and a sister Marion Martz and by brothers Charles H. Staab Jr., John (Jack) Staab, Donald Staab and Thomas Staab and by sisters-in-law Edith and Mary Lou Staab
Private Funeral Services will be held with Rev. Eric Reamer, Presiding.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens
The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
