Hilda A. Shontz, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at the age of 57.
Born June 11, 1969 in Proctorville, OH., Hilda brought warmth, kindness, and a helping hand to everyone who knew her.
She attended the Fairland School District. Possessing a naturally nurturing spirit, she dedicated her life to others through her work as a daycare provider and caregiver.
Hilda truly enjoyed helping people, and her gentle, caring nature left a lasting impact on countless families in her community.
Outside of her work, Hilda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener who loved tending to her plants, and she was a passionate, lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hilda leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and family. She is survived by her loving partner, Patrick McBride.
She is also survived by her cherished children: Cody Shontz, Larry Shontz, James Shontz and Amora Rose Shontz McBride; and her two loving bonus children, Lucille McBride(Billy) and Lucas McBride(Amanda).
Hilda’s greatest joy came from her family, and she leaves behind several siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as many grandchildren whom she loved dearly and who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Jean Simpson and Boyd Franklin Clonch.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
