Jackson Dewayne Deets, of Dempseytown, passed away on February 7th , 2026 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Oil City on January 2,1943, he was the son of the late Roy E and Helen Pastorius Deets.
Jack was a 1962 graduate of Oil City Senior High School where he was a standout, 4 year letterman wrestler and football player. After school, he served in the Army Reserves and was employed for over 40 years by Franklin Steel as a Slitter Mechanic. Jack was an active member of the Trinity UMC serving in many capacities.
On August 3, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, the former Martha (Jane) Way who preceded him in death in March 31, 2024.
Jack was an avid fisherman and loved hunting and spending summers at his cottage in Henry's Bend. He loved spending time in his garden and giving his produce to family, neighbors and friends. Loved sitting on his back porch and watching the sun set
He was a huge Oiler Fan, as well as a fan of his nephew Tiger's football team in Kirtland Ohio.
In addition to his wife Jane and his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Gary L Deets, nephew Bobby Deets, sister in law Kay Courtney, and brothers in law Philip LaVerde and Sid Courtney.
He is survived by his brothers, Bill (Carol) Deets and Larry (Marge) Deets both of Dempseytown; Brother in law, Joe (Cis) Way of President and sister in law Charlotte LaVerde of Oil City.
''Uncle Jack'' is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was always an active supporter of ALL their various activities. He also leaves behind many beloved friends for which he had the most giving heart!
A memorial service for family and friends will be at Trinity United Methodist Church 2 Center Street in Oil City on Saturday, February 14, 2025 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made Trinity United Methodist Church, 2 Center Street, Oil City or the Oil City Blue and White Booster Club c/o Oil City School District 825 Grandview Rd. Oil City PA.
