James Dolphin Obituary

James Andrew Dolphin, 63, of Cranberry Township Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Jim was born on May 22, 1962, in Buffalo, New York.  He was the son of the late Thomas and Jean (Layden) Dolphin.

He graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1980.  After graduation he attended the Beaver campus of Penn State, and then Wright State University where he graduated in 1991.

He was an avid Lego builder and collector.  His interest in Legos began as a toddler and never left him.  There were always Lego creations at some stage of completion, throughout his apartment.

He was also an avid fan of anything Star Wars, Disney or WWII.  His collection of memorabilia from these adorned the walls of his home.

Some of his fondest memories were of his vacations in the Adirondacks, where the family rented a cabin every year along with many other family friends.  For a week every summer, he would immerse himself in the beauty of the area, sailing, horseback riding, hiking, fishing and getting into as much mischief he could.

Jim also had a passion for comedy that led him onto the comedy stages in Pittsburgh.  He was always breaking the ice with his humor and his infectious smile.

He is survived by his older brother, John Dolphin (Louanne), sister Anne Sheridan (Kevin), niece Hannah Sheridan, niece Cara Rodriguez (Daniel), nephew Kyle (Mel) Sheridan and his partner, Sebastian Falvacion, and nephew Christopher Samson.  He is also survived by numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunts Mary Dolphin and Margarete (Peg) Klosinski, Elaine Layden and his uncles Joseph (Joe) Klosinski and Jack Layden, cousin Susan Layden, and great cousins Edward McMahon and Mary McMahon.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Reinsel Funeral Home, 116 Bissell Ave. in Oil City.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
