Joan Anne Hartle (nee Peitz), lovingly known as Mimi, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 11, 2026 , surrounded by her family after a period of illness.
Born March 6, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA., Joan was the daughter of the late Bernard and Joan Meyer Peitz.
She was a graduate of Mt. Alvernia High School.
Joan dedicated her life to educating children and spent many years supporting students as a volunteer, librarian and computer teacher at St. Stephen School, where she left a lasting impact on generations of young people.
A lifelong advocate for curiosity and creativity, Joan believed deeply in the importance of extracurricular activities and was a devoted supporter of the arts.
Joan found joy in reading, gardening, supporting local businesses, attending county fairs, farms shows, rodeos, and spending time with her family. She was involved with St Stephen’s Boy Scout Troop 11 for many years.
She is survived by her beloved husband Gary L. Hartle, whom she married on July 31, 1976.

Along with many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Macy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Bernard Peitz, Jr.
Visitation will be from 5P.M.-7P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
A Memorial service will be held at 7P.M. Friday with Pastor Josh Botts, Presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oil Region Library Association or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, both that were dear to Joans heart.
