John R. Shreve

John R. Shreve, 70, of 409 Seeley Ave. Oil City died at 4:00 P.M.

Thursday May 10, 2018 at his home after an extended illness.

Born August 10, 1947 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Robert G. & Ruth A. Hahn Shreve.

John attended St. Joseph Schools and was a graduate of Venango Christian High School.

He served in the United States Air Force from Oct 3, 1966 until his discharge on April 2, 1971.

John had worked as a core-maker for Hodge foundry in Greenville, PA.

He was married on July 1, 1978 in Pleasantville, PA. to his best friend , the former Judy Bechtel and she preceded him in death on March 4, 2007. Their marriage was blessed in St. Joseph Church on Jan. 3, 1981 .

John was of the Catholic Faith.

He enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino and going to flea markets, but most enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by four children

James S. Shreve of Oil City

two grandchildren

Emily Kay and Andrew Schreffler both of Pittsburgh.

He is also survived by one brother

Don Shreve & his wife Norma of Oil City

as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son Thomas Shreve.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 6-8 P.M. Monday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in St. Joseph Church with Fr. John Miller.

Presiding.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
