Joyce Eileen Rogers Neergaard, 63, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday May 16. She was born September 12, 1960 to Doris Shontz and Warren Rogers.
Growing up Joyce would spend her entire summer at the family island gardening and playing in the river along with her siblings, mother, grandmother and, grandfather.
After high school, Joyce worked for Hills Department Stores. There she was head cashier along with being different department leads throughout her career.
Joyce met her husband, Christopher Neergaard, of 35 years at a Hill’s store set in Ohio both coming from different states. Together they had a daughter Samantha Neergaard. Along with her fiancé Travis Eakin they gave Joyce 3 grandchildren, Dalton, 10, and the twins Wade and Athena, 4.
Joyce was survived by her two sisters Donna Rogers and Georgia Millard and two brothers Terry Rogers and Allen Rogers. Also, waiting for Joyce are her two sisters Judy Hartzel and Ruth Rogers-Bradybaugh and a brother Philip Rogers who have passed in the last few years.
Joyce enjoyed spending time camping and rowing at the island with family and friends. Especially the reunions, where 60, 70, 80 family members would attend.
Joyce’s wishes were to have her ashes spread on the island that she loved so much.
The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
