Katherine Ross, 83, of Franklin, PA. passed peacefully on Friday, July 14th at her home with her caregiver by her side.
Kathy was born on January 7, 1940 in Bear Lake, PA., daughter of William Scott & Esther Ross.
Kathy spent her early life in a children’s home in Warren County, and entered Polk Center in 1947. On February 9, 1989, Kathy became part of the UCIP family, residing first in a residential group home, and later making her home in a LifeSharing situation with dear friends who became her second family for more than 20 years. When age started to get the best of her, Kathy returned to a UCIP residential group home to live out her later years.
Kathy had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She loved dogs, especially Yorkies, and was fortunate to have loved several as pets over the years. Kathy loved children, all of whom she called “baby.” She actively enjoyed watching comedy and police shows on TV. Kathy loved being pampered, having her hair and nails done. Kathy enjoyed many foods, especially holiday foods, ham loaf, sweet potatoes, pizza, chocolate pudding and, always coffee. Kathy relished her privacy, and liked to spend a good deal of time by herself. Kathy’s favorite colors were pink, purple and gold, and these colors, and others, were often reflected in the Mardi Gras beads she loved to wear.
She is survived by her many friends at UCIP.
