Kenneth Campbell Obituary

Kenneth E. Campbell, age 93 of Kinston, North Carolina, formerly of Oil City, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston, NC.

Born on Dec. 1, 1930 he was a son to the late Alvin Burton and Isabella Crow Campbell.

Mr. Campbell attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City.

He married the former Elizabeth Cotter on Sept. 26, 1964, who preceded him in death in 2003.

Kenneth enjoyed movies, television, collecting model trains and cars, and having breakfast with his friends every morning at the McDonald’s in Oil City.   In June of 1990, he retired from Mellon Bank after working 42 years for Mellon Bank, previously Citizens Bank and Northwest Bank.  In describing his Dad to people, his son Thomas always said that Kenneth was like George Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life.  A small town banker that everyone knew and loved.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his son, Thomas, his daughter-in-law Danielle, and his grandsons, Ian and Connor.

Kenneth is also survived by his sister-in-law Carole Campbell and her children Jeff, Mark and Jennifer.

Preceding Kenneth in death are his parents, Alvin and Isabella, and his wife Elizabeth.

Also preceding Kenneth in death is his brother, John Douglas “Doug” Campbell.

Friends and family will be received at Reinsel Funeral Home on Saturday March 16 from 12 noon-2:00P.M. . A funeral service will be held at the funeral home  at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Denise Mains Pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, Presiding.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Campbell’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
