Lucus Kauffman Obituary

Lucus R. Kauffman, 46, of Franklin, PA., passed away Sept. 30, 2025 at UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, after a courageous battle with Amyloidosis. Born on Jan. 10, 1979 in Oil City, PA. to Deborah Barber.

On July 30, 2011, he married the former Kara L. Symons whom he met while working at Two Mile Run County Park. Together they created a beautiful family of three boys, William, Noah, and Jacob Kauffman.

Lukes’s career revolved around Two Mile Run County Park, where he first started in the maintenance area and during that time, he educated himself on the workings of the park and its infrastructure. He was given the opportunity to become Venango County Park Director, a job that truly became a part of him. His goal was to create a place where family and friends would gather to enjoy the splendor of the parks beauty. He always had goals for the park, and completed many of them and many more he planned to accomplish. Anyone that had the opportunity to know and work with him will tell you Luke’s passion for his community was infectious.

Some of the things he enjoyed were watching his sons play baseball and taking them fishing. But his newest favorite joy was cooking on his Blackstone. He was known to be a do it yourself kind of guy, jack of all trades and helping other. He loved meeting new people and striking up a conversation. During Applefest he would be seen helping his family, Barbers Orchard, something he looked forward to for the past 30 years. He also enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Leni.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his boys, William, Noah, and Jacob Kauffman, who each have traits of their dad in them. Two brothers, Matthew Kauffman and his wife Laurel of Madison, OH and Brad Kauffman and his wife Kelly of Reno. His sister Casey Kauffman of Franklin, Mother-in-law Mary Ellen Symons, of Oil City, Sister-in-law Susane Hogue and her husband Phil of Pittsburgh, and several nephews.

An opportunity to celebrate his life and remember Luke, by visiting with friends, family and coworkers will be held on Monday, October 6th at Two Mile Run County Park from 2-6 P.M. at the Nature Lodge.

Memorials may be made to Two Mile Run County Park in his memory.
