Martin Sherlock Sr. Obituary

Martin J. Sherlock Sr., 84, of Oil City, PA., passed away at 5:20 P.M. Wednesday Sept. 24, 2025 at his home.

            Born March 29, 1941 in Titusville, PA., he was the son of the late Gerald and Ina Jane Kerr Sherlock.

After graduation from high school, Martin entered the U.S. Navy in March of 1961 and served as a FN until his honorable discharge on Feb. 28, 1963.

He was married to the former Julia A. Elder on July 27, 1963 in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and she preceded him in death on March 20, of this year.

A lifelong resident of Oil City, he was of the Protestant Faith.

He is survived by 7 children

Martin J. Sherlock Jr and his wife Jennifer of Pensacola, FL.,

Cindi L. Rodgers and her husband Samuel of Oil City,

Scott R. Sherlock and his wife Melissa of Pensacola, FL.,

Julie M. Thompson and her husband Malcolm of Quincy, FL.,

Jerry L. Sherlock and husband Rich Tomlinson of Ansonia, CT

Eric J. Sherlock and wife Susan Sherlock of Pittsburgh

Garry F. Sherlock and his wife Adrienne Sherlock of MT. Joy, PA.

And the following grandchildren

Dustin Thompson, Brandon Rodgers, Kerridwen Sherlock,

Greggory Sherlock, Danielle Frantz, Erin Sherlock,

Malcom J. Thompson, Sean Sherlock

Robert Sherlock and Haley Sherlock

Great Grandchildren

Joshua Frantz, Christina Rodgers, Cierra Murray, Grace Frantz and Anne Rodgers

He is also survived by a brother

Robert Sherlock and his wife Mabel

and sisters

Marilyn Hart,

Judith Panchak, and Linda Fels and her husband Bill

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Mary J. Sherlock. And brothers-in-law LeRoy Hart and Michael Panchak.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Hillman Cancer Center and the Visiting Nurses Association.
