Phyllis L. King, 94, of Franklin and formerly of Oil City, PA., passed away Sunday Feb. 1, 2026 at the Purple Iris in the Caring Place.
Born Jan. 10, 1932 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late Harry McCartney and Gertrude Stoudt McCartney Dechant.
Phyllis was a graduate of Oil City High School.
She was married on May 24, 1952 in St. Stephen’s Church to F. Edward King and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1993.
A homemaker, Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society, and had quilted with a group of ladies for many years, and had also served on parish counsel.
She is survived by 5 children
Diane Toth and her husband Joe of Oil City
William King and his wife Marilyn of Oil City
Stephen King and his wife Mia of Apache Junction, AZ
Judith Groner of Oil City
Francis (Frank) King and his wife Cynthia of Alexandria, VA.
And a daughter-in-law
Sandy King of Oil City
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Phyllis is also survived by one brother
John Dechant of Cooperstown
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Mark King, two grandsons Sean and Alex King
And by two sisters Joyce Bower and Frances Lamey and by 5 brothers
David , Harry , George and Robert McCartney
And Clarence Dechant
Friends will be received from 4-7P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in St. Joseph Church with Fr. Daniel Hoffman, Presiding.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
