Raymond Mohnkern, of Oil City, PA., passed away May 23, 2026 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.
Born June 6, 1937 in Oil City, PA., Ray was the son of the late Samuel Thomas and Maxine Gardiner Mohnkern.
Ray had lived in Siverly, before moving to Kossuth and graduated from Keystone High School in Knox.
While living in Kossuth, Ray worked for Dobe Weaver Farm, which was next door to his home.
Following high school, Ray traveled to Lordstown, OH., where he was employed by General Motors. Upon returning to the Oil City area, Ray worked for Weaver Chevrolet in the parts dept for many years, then working for Weaver Buick and retiring from Donovan and Bauer in Titusville. After retirement he had worked part time for Loomis.
Ray served as an Oil City councilman, and later as a Venango County Commissioner.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, attended church regularly, enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons, riding bikes, gardening, playing softball and bowling at Seneca Lanes and singing.
On Oct. 4, 1958, he was married to the former Marilyn Y. Tarleton, and she survives.
A beloved husband, son and father, Ray is additionally survived by five children and their spouses.

Ray’s legacy also includes 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers and a sister
Donald Mohnkern, Sharon Mohnkern Freed and Kenneth Mohnkern as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Victory Heights United Brethren Church on Friday May 29. Visitation will be from 10:00A.M.-11:00A.M., with a service at 11:00A.m.
Ray’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the employees of Oakwood Heights and Asera Care Hospice for the care they provided.
