Raymond W. Murphy, 94, of Apex, NC and formerly of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning at home in Apex, NC surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 27, 1931 in Franklin, PA, Ray was the son of the late John & Ellen Gallagher Murphy. Ray was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years Mary P. Moore. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and worked as Lab Technician for Calsicat Chemical for 30 years.
Ray cherished Mary and dedicated his life to their children, grand-children and great- grand-children. Ray was proud of his 69-year journey of sobriety and loved to share his incredible story whenever asked.
Ray is survived by four children
James Murphy & his wife Lisa of Sugar Hill, GA, Mary Ellen Hulett of Lawrenceville, GA, Eileen Twomey & her husband Patrick of Aiken, SC and Meg Murphy of Apex, NC. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren:
John, Scott and Mark Murphy, Charles Hulett, Matthew & Shannan Twomey. In addition to Rays wife, Mary and his parents John and Ellen, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Murphy and a son-in-law B.J. Hulett.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with a Service following Saturday December 20th at the Reinsel Funeral Home, Oil City, PA with Pastor Skip Williams, Wilmington, NC Presiding.
