Rev. Clinton E. (Gene) Lain 77, of Maple Shade Rd., Cranberry, went to meet his Lord at 1:00 A.M. on August 1, 2010.
Born May 4, 1933 in Cherryvale, KS. He was the son of the late Clinton W. and Mary Williams Lain.
Rev. Lain was married for 53 years to Elaine Milliron, who survives. They were married in Kennard United Methodist Church by Elaine's father Rev. William (Bill) Milliron.
Rev. Lain loved to go to school as well as teaching. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and received his diploma from Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute, a bachelors in Pre-Med from Asbury College and his masters in Religion from Olivet Nazarene College and his Doctor of Missiology degree from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Missions, preaching, evangelism and teaching were the love of his life. He and his wife were missionaries with One Mission Society (formerly OMS International) where he had worked as academic dean, and director, of theology classes at Emmaus Vocational Bible College. He also worked with evangelism teams who planted new churches. Rev. Lain was an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and was pastor of several churches before going to Haiti. After retiring he taught both campus and online theology classes for Bible Life in Freeport, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons
Michael Lain of Springfield, OH
Donald Lain and his wife Nancy and Larry Lain and his wife Verna both of Coshocton, OH
4 Grandsons: Jeromy, Matthew, Brian and Nathan
7 Granddaughters: Abigail, Karah, Hannah, Rachel, Christa, Lauren and Emma
2 Sisters: Vera Trarp of Udall, KS and Joan and Cecil Bails of Cleveland, TN
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Virginia and Betty Lain.
Friends will be received from 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. Thursday in the Oil City Church of Nazarene. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. William Hopkins, pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
