Robert J. Porter, 75, of Oil City, PA., passed away Monday Oct. 21, 2024 at Brevillier Village in Erie.
Born August 17, 1949 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of Thomas W. ”Big Joe”
Porter and Alice C. “Peg” Riley Porter.
Bob was a graduate of Oil City High School.
He entered the U.S. Army on May 13, 1969 and was honorably discharged on Nov. 19, 1970. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Bob worked many years at Pennzoil where he was a fork-lift operator.
He married the former Cynthia J. Wysocki on Feb. 26, 1972 at St. Patricks’s Church in Erie, PA.
Bob enjoyed playing softball for many years where he was a pitcher and also played first base. He played for the Marvic Tavern and the Shamrock.
He also enjoyed fishing , golfing and enjoyed traveling.
He and Cynthia were able to go to numerous countries including Costa, Rica, Scotland and Ireland with their grandson Kyle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Carol Ann Porter and Cheryl Anne Porter, a brother Ronald Porter and nephew William Porter.
Friends will be received from 2-4 P.M. Monday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Arlington National cemetery at a later date.
