Memorial Service Announcement
Sarah Lay Lehman, 80, of Rockmere, PA and Estero, FL, died January 19, 2011 at her son's home in Haymarket, VA following a short illness.

Born June 27, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Joseph and Dorthy (Dunn) Lay of Orrville, Ohio. Sally's family spent their summers in Rockmere, PA when she was growing up and Sally and Bob retired to their cottage in Rockmere in 1982.

Sally graduated from Orrville High School in 1948, attended Stephens College for two years and graduated from Ohio Northern University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.S. degree in Psychology in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert 'Bob' Lehman on June 16, 1951. They had two children, Jeffrey and Kristin.

After college, Sally and Bob lived in Wadsworth and Rittman, Ohio, before buying their own pharmacy in Chardon, Ohio, in 1958, where Bob was the Pharmacist until he retired in 1982. Sally was active in her children's school and scouting activities, volunteered at the local hospital, worked the polls on election days, and worked with Bob in the pharmacy.

Sally and Bob were avid sailors and after retiring traveled the country in their RV. In recent years until Bob's death in 2009, Sally and Bob also traveled the world. Their journeys included trips to Spain, Alaska, and around Cape Horn, as well as cruises in the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

Sally attended Christ Episcopal Church and since her childhood has been an active member of the Oil City Boat Club and the Rockmere community.

She is survived by her daughter Kristin Lehman of Findlay, Ohio; her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Linda Lehman and their four children, Greg, Chris, Kate and Grace, all of Haymarket, Virginia; her sister Elizabeth (Betsy) Mathias of Charlottesville, VA and Rockmere, PA; and many cousins around the country.

There will be no calling hours. The funeral will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City on Saturday, July 16 at 12:00 noon, followed by a private interment in Grove Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church, the Oil City Boat Club, or the Oil City Public Library.
