Vance E. Barber, 65, of Oil City, PA., passed away Tuesday Oct 29, 2024 at UPMC-Hamot in Erie.
Born Feb. 23, 1959 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Wade F. and Ilene E. Kirchner Barber.
Vance was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1977.
He went on to graduate from Penn State University.
Vance loved music, sang in the choir at Penn State and also enjoyed collecting music and antiques.
He had been a member of Good Hope Lutheran church and was a 32 Degree Mason.
Vance had worked at various stores in the Cranberry Mall as a manager and was proud that he helped build the Toys R Us Store in Erie, PA.
He later served as a dispatcher for the Oil City Police Department.
Vance is survived by one sister
Miriam Myers of Oil City
Three nephews
Fred Myers and his wife Kelly of Oil City,
Paul Myers and his wife Allison of Oil City, and
Dan Myer sand his wife Beth of Franklin
And several great nieces and nephews
He is also survived by a stepdaughter
Rebecca Sparks of New York and two step grandchildren
Ian and Rachel
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin, who was fetus-in-fetu.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday Nov. 6, 2024 at 2 P.M. in the Good Hope Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reinsel Funeral Home 116 Bissell Ave. Oil City, PA. 16301 to help defray funeral expenses or to the Venango County Humane Society, as Vance had a great love of cats.
