William P. Gatesman

William P. Gatesman, 77, of Oil City, PA. and longtime resident of NC, passed away Tuesday May 5, 2026 at his home after a brief illness.

Born Jan. 5, 1949 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late William and Gertude F. “Trudy” Dech Gatesman.

Bill entered the United  States Army on Feb 28, 1968 and was honorably discharged on Feb. 26, 1971 with the rank of SP5.

He was married to the former Karen L. Schneider in 1970 and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2024.

Bill was a bricklayer and was self employed.

He had two sons who both died early in their lives, William M. Gatesman II, drowned in an accident on July 9, 1990 and Jeremiah B. Gatesman, who was killed on Feb. 19, 1998.

He is survived by two sisters

Toni Davis of Oil City

Robin Gatesman of Titusville

And by several nieces and nephews and in laws’.

In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by a brother Donald Gatesman and a brother-in-law Michael Davis.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard on Monday May 11 at 12 Noon in the chapel at Calvary Cemetery.

Interment will follow.
