John P. Heim, 81 of 402 Plummer St. Oil City, died at 10:45 P.M. Thursday Jan. 25, 2007 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
- Born October 3, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA. he was the son of the late Joseph Benedict Heim and Matilda Antoinette Kalchthaler Heim.
- Mr. Heim attended Pittsburgh Catholic Schools, received his bachelors degree in Education from Duquense University and his Masters from Penn State University.
- He taught at N. Catholic in Pgh., Bellefonte Jr. High School in Center County, City of Plainfield public schools in Union County, NJ , and the Freehold Regional HS in Monmouth County, NJ, from which he retired in 1980.
- He had been a Veteran of the US Navy during World War II as Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class NAS Alameda, CA.
Mr. Heim was married on Sept. 17, 1955 to Rose Marie Hrabak and she preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2003.
- He was a member of St. Stephen's Church while living in Oil City. While living in Chesapeake, VA , he and his wife were very active in their former parish of The Holy Angels in Portsmouth , VA . He served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector, and visited the sick and participated in the marriage encounter program.
- Mr. Heim loved teaching and was crazy about airplanes. He believed history was to be seen and touched. To understand the past was to understand the present and future. He retired as a teacher, but not from teaching. He enjoyed building airplane models and stamp collecting in his younger days, and was an avid fan of Classical Music. He also enjoyed traveling, and bowling and was an avid reader.

He is also survived by one sister
- M.C. (Regina) Heim - - Pittsburgh
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings Aloysius, Cyril, Charles, Regis Heim, Marie Sieffert , Bernedette Sieffert, Theresa Cosentino.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Monday in St. Joseph Church with Msgr. John W. Swoger the pastor, presiding. Interment will take place in Virginia.
